This cache is in Dudgeon Area, north of Vinton. The area is open to fishing, and is used for public hunting during season. It is a primitive area; there are no restrooms, no camping is allowed, and no drinking water.
Suggested started point N42° 11.675 W92° 01.325. There are no "trails" in this area, but there are access roads, but they have gates and are locked so there's no way you can drive down them. From the starting point the cache is 1.37 miles as the crow flies.
According to my gps, trip time is 35 minutes one way, and odometer is 1.54 miles one way. I would not suggest you try to bushwhack this one; doing so will probably put you right into one of several swamp/backwater lakes.
When placing the cache I saw lots of wildlife, mainly waterfowl. The cache is an ammo can in the crotch of a tree.
Heavy cover at the cache spot may have distorted the signal some, first finder(s) please verify coords.
Caution: This cache is in or near a public hunting area. Please use extra care if you choose to go geocaching during open hunting season. Iowa's shotgun deer seasons are Dec. 7-11 and 14-22.
