Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

An ammo can full of survival type gear (mostly...depends on what you consider survival) located on the County Line Trail, which is also the Summers / Mercer County line. If you like to mountain bike this is the cache for you!!!! It's a great dog cache as well!
The rangers at Pipestem are very concerned about environmental damage caused by off-trail activity. All Pipestem caches are located within 50 feet of the trail. Do not attempt to bushwhack to this or any Pipestem cache. The coordinates given above are for the Nature Center parking area. This is also the parking area nearest to the trail head for the County Line Trail. The staff of Pipestem Resort request that you check in at the Nature Center to receive a copy of the coordinates for all seven of the Lost Caches of Pipestem Resort.

Hours for the Nature Center are:
Summer: Tuesday – Sunday 11:00 am to 4:30 pm
Winter Saturday 12:30 – 4:30 Sunday 10:30 – 2:30
Spring and Fall Wednesday – Sunday 12:30 – 4:30
Ranger Jim generally keeps all of the coords posted on the door to the center.

There is no climbing required to retrieve this cache but there are significant changes in altitude on the way. The trail will be muddy and slippery in wet weather and is not recommended for small children unless you plan to carry them most of the way. I rated this cache a 2.5 difficulty because it is difficult to get a lock at this site, but remember that if you are 30 feet off the trail you are too far off!

Yes we did find it. Nice walk with the carpet of leaves that nature provided. This turns to a new game with a blanket covering hidden rocks on the trails and hidden caches. Take some time in this area. The creek with the falls is beautiful. TFTC Took :nothing Left :A Giant Leprechaun wooden nickel.

I tried on two different occasions - one by myself and once with a friend and we could not find the cache. Vacation ended and did not allow a third search. It was a long hike for no reward. Bummer.

These listed coordinates take you right to a little log shed nowhere near the actual cache (.83 mi). The yellow sheet from the Nature center has the correct cords not listed here. Don't know. Friend in team accidentally found a "Where's Dennis?" stamp book for a different game under the log shed though. Random.

Last day camping at Pipestem to which we decided to find this one before we left. Tried to get to this one the hard way last evening, but ran out of daylight. Got it this morning. Three great days to be in the woods now.
