Geocache Description:

Waterford was first settled by the Paleo Indians, the Archaic Indians and the Woodland Indians. Effigy mounds, used by the Woodland Indians, are found in several locations in the area "Tischargan," meaning "home of the dead." The name was a reference to the effigy mounds and burial grounds in the area. The Potawatomi settlement became known as Tichigan.

One could say that Waterford got its name because it was a great place to cross the Fox River (at a narrow part where Main St. now runs one could easily "ford the water"). The Fox River has helped make this area attractive to settlers, noted as early as 1833, when the Potawatomi tribe ceded the land to the U.S. Government.

This Park is situated on the Fox River. Bring a fishing pole and the kids and catch some dinner while scoring the find.

The container is camoed to fit in with the environment. The cache contains a log sheet. Bring your own pen or pencil.

When replacing log please roll up tight and place it in the lid then slide it into the container.

Terrain is flat and kid friendly. This is a high muggable area during certain times of the year so stealth may be required.

I see that they have built a playground nearby so muggle activity could be high at times.

There is minimal bushwhacking required. Please replace the cache exactly as you found it.

While in the area you might also want to visit Wr Wadewitz Nature Camp to the west and pick-up those caches as well.
