Geocache Description:

A day to dust off, steam clean, and drag your kayaks and canoes out of your storage and get them wet!

The event coordinates are for the parking area, which is limited, but if we need more parking, we can shuttle to the train station. The event starts at 10:00AM and runs until you get back to your car. Please pack your own lunch and beverages. We probably won't need them, but feel free to bring along a CITO bag. There are two caches on the river, and one on land to do. I plan on paddling downstream until I feel the need to head back upstream. That will be determined by how strong the current is the day of the event. It is possible to paddle all the way to Green Chimneys on Doanesburg Rd, but that is 13 miles and there is no telling yet if there are any fallen trees on the river trail. If anyone wants to do the whole 13 miles, please plan to leave a car at both ends. We will spend some time chatting at the parking while we wait for everyone to gather and see about room for parking, then take off. You can paddle a short distance upstream to explore before heading downstream. Stay on the trail if it's flooded, it's easy to lose the trail in those conditions. Bring your GPS. Bring dry clothes. Dress accordingly for the weather. The water will be cold. Wear layers. You should be experienced and able. The current is flat, there are no rapids but there may be a beaver dam or two to cross over. Children should be strong and brave. I would love to get everyone together for a group photo on the river near my Neener Neener Meaner Biner cache. Probably around 10:30-11:00 for the photo. http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCWDJ1_neener-neener-meaner-biner?guid=8efd407d-234b-4492-bdcc-7cc2ea56a091 I look forward to seeing everyone. I am going to have a contest on this paddle. When I paddle through here, I see things in the trees. There will be a photo contest, to be held after all logs are logged and photos are posted. There will be a free trackable to best image found in a tree stump. I have two examples posted below.
