Geocache Description:

A tribute cache – in memory of the original “Usk for Fun”. An easy walk over the ridge to the west of Usk.

Once upon a time a visitor called Garbunkel came to Usk from across the Big Pond. He liked this area so much he decided to mark his visit with a cache. Usk For Fun was a happy little cache: For many months he lived contentedly on top of a wall near to a children’s playground, hearing their laughing voices and getting regular visits from a series of happy geocachers. Then, sadly, some naughty people found the little cache. They didn’t understand his purpose in life, they emptied all his insides out over the ground and soon he became no more than some scattered memories blowing in the wind. Other geocachers found his remains and they were sad. The Blorenges watched these events from afar and said to each other, “We nearly got FTF on that little cache – We must do something to honour his name!” So they made a new cache: They put lots of little happy, fun things in a box and hid it for more happy cachers to find - Not in the same place but in a higher spot which overlooks the original home of Usk For Fun. Now you can find Usk For Fun – Again! A happy cache once more. Enjoy! Park in the town car park, Maryport Street and walk over the bridge.
