The first challenge is finding a way into the park. Since the cache
is in plain sight, the "spoiler" contains the location of where I
parked. There is no trail leading directly to the cache site. To
reach it, you'll cross several streams and drainage ditches. Along
the way you'll have to deal with mud, ticks, hungry mosquitos,
thorny underbrush and lots of poison ivy (but no hills). Since the
area floods periodically, the cache is hanging from a tree above
what appears to be the high water mark. To log this cache you must
reach it and sign the log book. Simply spotting it doesn't count.
Because of the thorny brush and poison ivy in the area, wearing
long pants and hiking boots is a very good idea. In wet seasons,
high waterproof boots (e.g. "Wellies") may be required, or in very
wet years, maybe a snorkel and flippers.
Also, be sure to mark the waypoint of your vehicle. This is an
easy place to get lost in, because everything looks the same.
Finally, during hunting season, wear bright colors. Judging from
the ubiquitious tree stands, the place is popular among hunters.
There are also a lot of ATV tracks, but you won't see many other
users. It isn't the kind of place most people would visit for a
pleasure hike.
