Detailed cache description at the bottom.

I have placed five caches in Devil's Canyon, in the Chatsworth area.

Devil's Wash
Devil's Diversion

Devil's Oak
Devil's Gate
Devil's Canyon

Please see Devil's Canyon for Additional Waypoints, and trail Map.

There are several ways into the canyon, but things have become difficult because of a construction project at the head of the canyon that has the traditional way blocked. The best way now is to park on Poema Place, west of Topanga Canyon Blvd, just before the guard shack to Indian Hills Estates. Check in with the guard and they will allow you access. Follow the green line on the west side of the road to the trail head. At the trailhead, you want to go down to the right, not up to the left.

Once in the canyon, you will go south about 100 feet to pickup Devil's Wash, and then north for the others. The last cache is a little over 3 miles from the car and about 400' in a very gradual elevation gain. Trail is wide and good the whole way with several creek crossings. Parts of the trail are through a wide dry wash, so the middle of a rainstorm may not be the best time to do this.

WATCH OUT FOR POISON OAK. It is abundant. There is none on, or over the trail, and there is none anywhere near the caches. If this changes, please let me know. There is no reason for anyone to come into contact with it, as long as they keep their eyes open.

Devil's Gate is a micro CITO/Beach Tube type container with a log only. Bring a pen. The 3 terrain rating is simply because you have been walking for a while.

Saw it as I walked up. That was fine. Having just missed Devil's Oak, I was in the mood for that.

This is a great mtn bike ride up the canyon. A few burned trees are across the trail here and there and the wind really kicked up once in a while. It was wonderful. All the poison oak has been burned out, but it is growing back. Happy to have clean replacement logs to sign. TFTC.

No PO anywhere near GZ. The fire did not encroach, however, the cache had been muggled. It has been replaced by an identical container.

There is a fairly new, "No Hunting", No Tresspassing" sign wired to the gate post. The trail run N/S and the sign is facing W, so what the heck does that mean? I talked to the local MRCA Ranger, before placing these caches and she assured me that we are allowed to hike the trail/road. The state has an easement. She said that the ranchers are allowed to close and latch the gates to keep their herds from migrating, but they cannot lock them. Further north, I found a gate that was padlocked. (no signs). I could see footprints on both sides, so I went around it. Further on, I came across some hikers that are very familiar with the area. They had gone around it also, as they have done every weekend since it appeared.
