Yes, Yelm has joined the ranks of cities with a WAL-MART.
I remember Yelm 15 years ago as a sleepy little town with only a few small stores and restaurants. What made it outstanding was the awesome view of Mount Rainier. I remember hearing my realtor say, "Yelm will never have big stores and fast food restaurants." The main intersection was 2 two-lane highways which caused a bit of a slow down back then.
Fast forward to the present. During those 15 years, large grocery stores, a movie complex, fast food restaurants and other big businesses have moved in. The place is bustling. The latest addition is the WAL-MART. Sadly, the only thing that hasn't kept up with the growth are the two lane highways. Slow downs tend to be a lot slower and longer these days. But the view of Mount Rainier is as spectacular as ever.
