September 11, 2001, changed the United States and the World forever. The catastrophic events that occurred that day were particularly touching to those of us directly and indirectly impacted by them.
At this location a memorial was built with a 12-foot, 1-ton section of steel from the World Trade Center as the center focal point. The supports are designed to resemble the towers and this large piece of steel is precisely installed so that it points directly towards where the towers once stood in New York City.
On the tenth anniversary of 9/11, a memorial service and dedication was held officially opening the memorial for public access.
Please visit this location and feel free to share your thoughts in your "Found It" logs.
The memorial is paved and handicap accessible. Please do not visit after 11 PM or before 7 AM.
When visiting, please do not park near the building - these areas are reserved for firefighters; instead park in the lot away from the building. Just like the parking waypoint suggests; you'll see signs indicating where to park.
While at the memorial, you will notice etchings in the brick pavers. One of these tells you how to find the final stage, using the Parking Waypoint as a reference. Good Luck!
Some of the paver's etchings are starting to wear - including the paver for this cache. If you are having difficulty reading the paver, look at the hint for assistance.
