Double Decker Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

billthesoxfan: Too many issues with this cache - the private land issue being one, but also my anxiety that the changing mood of the Merrimack might make this periodically hazardous. Also, the cache had become completely exposed. All things considered, it's best archived, thanks to everyone who visited.

Geocache Description:

An easy walk along the banks of the Merrimack River, with luck you will see some interesting waterfowl. This is also a pretty unique view of the I-495 doubledecker bridge and some impressive mills from the Industrial Revolution

Park at 42 42.496N 071 08.051W. This is a popular fishing area. Please note that the Merrimack is very swift here, so take care near the water. The area is subject to flooding in the spring. I have placed the cache well away from the river, but the level may be much higher at other times of the year. The walk is pretty with a very nice vista near the cache. Watch out for muggle anglers. I had wanted to take you to the nearby confluence of the Merrimack and Shawsheen, but the trash/ river detrius gets pretty depressing after the cache, and it appears that the Shawsheen has been completely compromised by roads and building, so that there is an empty river bank.I wanted to place this cache to mark my return to caching in earnest (I hope) after a summer which has been largely consumed with difficult issues. Happily, the 'soxfan' family is OK now, so look for my logs in plenty of caches for the fall! Have fun with this one!
