Welcome to Sayen Gardens in Hamilton NJ!
Frederick Sayen was an avid gardener and world traveler. In 1912
he purchased a 30 acre parcel of land not far from the family
rubber mill in Hamilton Square, NJ. He built a bungalow style home
and surrounded it with plants and flowers acquired while he
traveled the world. His collection includes species from China,
Japan and England, many of which are still flourishing to this day.
Spring unveils a magnificent display of color and beauty with more
than 250,000 flowering bulbs, as well as dogwoods, heirloom azaleas
and rhododendrons. Mother's Day marks the garden's annual Azalea
Festival. This is also a very popular spot for couples to have
their wedding pictures taken as well as also have receptions in the
house.
This park is one of my favorite areas to walk as well as take
pictures. If you come here in the winter, try to make another trip
in the spring; the flowers are spectacular!
The posted coordinates take you to the parking lot.
!) To get to the first stage, count the number of lamp posts in
the parking lot and place that number in the blank; N40 14.0_2 W074

2) For the second stop on our tour, count the number of sides on
the gazebo and put that in the N blank, to get the second, see the
number of concrete lamp posts on the street side of the gazebo. N40

3) Now count the benches in front of the trellis and add 2 to
that number; this is your N blank. For the W blank, count the
number of urns that you see. N40 14.17_ W074 39.5_1
4) Sit down and relax, you’re almost done! Count the number of
sides to the gazebo for your first number and the number of figures
in the fountain for the second. N40 14.1_ _ W074 39.661. This will
take you to the cache itself which is in a wilder section of the
park. Watch out for the sticker bushes, they’re thick in this
area!
This cache is dedicated to my good friend J.B. who passed away
in November of 2005.
