Geocache Description:

Cradle Reserve

This cache was placed as part of The Cradle Caper, an event hosted in the Cradle of Humankind .

The drive to or from the cache treats one to a pleasant view of the area. The 3000 hectare Cradle Nature Reserve in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind offers a number of amenities including eight fully-serviced stilted thatched chalets on the banks of the Motsetse stream. A second self catering camp is an ideal base for any exploration of this fascinating fossil-rich area.

The reserve has more than 35 species of mammal including giraffe and rhinoceros. Game drives are available on request. The stream is regularly stocked with trout and presents challenging brook fishing to the experienced fly-fisherman.

The Cradle Restaurant offers an alternative to self-catering and is a short drive through the reserve.

There is a parking spot at the cache location and there is reasonable cover from the road, but please be careful when retrieving and replacing the cache...

The cache is a micro containing a log sheet only. Please bring a pen or pencil to leave your mark.
