Geocache Description:

An "Old School" in Council Grove

The Methodist Episcopal church built this two-story stone school in 1850 to educate children of the Kaw Tribe. As such, it is one of the oldest, if not the oldest elementary schools in Kansas. The museum features living-history demonstrations and costumed reenactments.

Council Grove is one of the oldest towns in Kansas, founded as a trading post on the Santa Fe Trail. It has a fine walking tour of historic sites such as Madonna of the Trail, Post Office Oak, and the Hays House. A bike-trail follows the Neosho River in the area of the cache.

This cache is a micro-coin tube for 50 state quarters which I just happened to have along for my foray into Morris County. It is hidden very near the Museum and even closer to the bike path. Original contents are my remaining Wyoming quarters and a log sheet which looks suspiciously like a list of caches in Morris County that I didn't have time to visit.

Clue is a big spoiler, but will save you if the co-ordinates are fuzzy for you. Please rehide well, and leave some leaves in the container for further camo.
