Edward Warren was a not particularly successful miner who may have chosen his claim for the scenery rather than the mining potential. His site certainly is more picturesque than the dark little hollow where Garnet was built. He also wasn't much of a hermit so to lure people out from town to visit he built his own park with swings, picnic tables, and benches. The shortest approach to the site was a steep climb so he also built about a mile and a half of trail to make access much easier. If you take the trail, try not to miss Warren's cabin since it's pretty overgrown.
While you're in the area, a vist to Garnet Ghost Town will fill in the rest of the story about this rugged mining community.
