Geocache Description:

DEHYDRATION (definition):

# dryness resulting from the removal of water

# depletion of bodily fluids

# the process of extracting moisture

Dehydration (hypohydration) is the removal of water (hydro in ancient Greek) from an object. In physiological terms, it entails a relative deficiency of water molecules in relation to other dissolved solutes. Dehydration, thus, is slightly different from hypovolemia, which defines water deficiency only in terms of overall volume rather than in terms of solute concentrations.

Desiccation is the state of extreme dryness, or the process of extreme drying. A desiccant is a hygroscopic substance that induces or sustains such a state in its local vicinity in a moderately-well sealed container.

In chemistry, a dehydration reaction is usually defined as a chemical reaction that involves the loss of water from the reacting molecule. Dehydration reactions are a subset of elimination reactions. Because the hydroxyl group (-OH) is a poor leaving group, having an Brønsted acid catalyst often helps by protonating the hydroxyl group to give the better leaving group, -OH2+.

Drying is a method of food preservation that works by removing water from the food, which prevents the growth of microorganisms and decay. Drying food using the sun and wind to prevent spoilage has been known since ancient times. Water is usually removed by evaporation (air drying, sun drying, smoking or wind drying) but, in the case of freeze-drying, food is first frozen and then water is removed by sublimation.Bacteria and micro-organisms within the food and from the air need the water in the food to grow. Drying effectively prevents them from surviving in the food. It also creates a hard outer-layer, helping to stop micro-organisms from entering the food.

What does this have to do with the cache??? Not much other than there is water involved!!!

During the summer months, you may want to take a bottle of water along in case you get thirsty. The rest of the year, there should be plenty of water around. (Insert maniacal laugh here!)

The container isn’t totally hidden. You will spot it rather easily when (if??) you make it to ground zero. You are looking for a cammoed lock n’ lock about 5-6 feet off the ground. That should keep it safe from rising water levels and natures aquatic engineers.

Even though I didn’t see any while I was placing the cache (and I was watching) I am adding the snake attribute. I could hear the frogs croaking. If there are frogs, there are predators not too far away.

I averaged about 30 readings to get the co-ords. If it seems people are having a difficult time locating the cache, I will go back and take some more readings. The cache is starting out with a few trade good trinkets and one Travel Bug. Please feel free to add more if you wish.

The difficulty/terrain level definitely depends on how much it has rained recently. It can go up or down accordingly.

The cache was placed where it is to test your mettle and determination. The hint won't tell you how to find the cache; but it definitely has some important information!!!
