Treasure Chest Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Hunt for a treasure chest located just off a multi-use trail.

pirate ship

Long ago, pirates travelled along Los Alamitos Creek. One of their ships capsized and they lost many of their belongings, including a small treasure chest, which was later washed ashore. Recently, the location of this lost treasure chest was recovered so that geocachers can hunt for it and trade with treasures of their own.

The trail leading to the treasure chest can be accessed from several locations. Bike, kid, and dog friendly.

7/8/03 Changed to maybe better coordinates N 37° 13.487' W 121° 51.458'. Original coordinates were N 37° 13.490' W 121° 51.455'. Having difficulty getting good GPSr reception in this area. Accuracy on my GPSr here was about 30 ft.

The cache is in a 5" x 4" x 3" container in a ziploc bag. Be sure to put the container back into the ziploc bag before you rehide it since the container is not waterproof. Initial contents included:

  • Sacajawea gold dollar
  • Dinosaur 3D puzzle card
  • Razz blower
  • Multi-colored ball
  • Magnifying glass
  • Rocket balloon
  • Magic trick
  • Harmonica
  • Seashell
  • Geocache note
  • Logbook, pencils, and pencil sharpener
