Geocache Description:

A small cache near a cool oasis on the New Mexico plains, just south of I-40.

PLEASE - only name and date in the cache log book!

Make sure lid is securely snapped back in place!

This is a small cache with a limited supply of paper and a very long drive to maintain. Please help us keep this cache in the beautiful location for as long as possible.

BRING YOUR OWN PEN OR PENCIL!

The Deep Blue Cache is located near the Blue Hole at Santa Rosa, NM. The Blue Hole is a natural spring with a surface opening 100' across, 81' deep and flows 3000 gallons per minute of the clearest water you will see in this part of the world. The water stays 61 degrees, year 'round. Objects on the bottom of the spring are clearly visible from the surface.

Blue Hole is a very popular SCUBA diving spot. Many dive groups train here all during the year. The cache is near, but not in the water - no swimming required! Blue Hole supports a healthy population of "liberated" goldfish and some native minnows.

This area can be very crowded, depending on the time of the year and activities. Please be discrete when working the cache. It is located in an area partially out of sight from the main activity area in a grove of bushes. To avoid attracting attention, approach from above the spring - there is a path all around the hole.
