Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the Oregon History Lesson series!

A multi-waypoint cache that is part of the Oregon History Lesson Series started by fractal. This cache starts at the above coordinates, which is the location of the historic Willamette Falls Locks. Built in the early 1870's by the Peoples Transportation Company to help move river traffic around the falls, the locks helped transform the development of Oregon's pioneer society and improved river transportation in the Willamette Valley. The falls were also an early site of an Indian fishing village. Water flowing over the falls furnished the power for a lumber mill which began operation in 1842, a flour mill in 1844, a woolen mill in 1864, and the first paper mill in the Pacific Northwest in 1867. The first long distance electric power transmission in the United States was from the falls in 1889. Begin your adventure by parking at the following coordinates:

You will need to do a little poking around to find it, but you don't have to move anything. It is a small tupperware container so bring small items to trade.
