The Haunted Trestle Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

TeamMina: If Norfolk Southern has concerns of this little-traveled lost area being overran with drugs and pro's, then we certainly don't want our little cache causing any greater concern.

Geocache Description:

However, subtracting 1.000 from each will put you right there

Cache is located right here....................^

The turn of the century was a very bad time for this stretch of railroad. Five years after these tragic events, six miles SW two trains carrying Thanksgiving passengers crashed head-on near Seneca, MI (see related web page link for the story).

Just north the cache location you will come to narrow one lane trestle bridge. The road goes under this.

Legend has it that at one time there was a farm house built near the tracks. Late one night around 1895, a fire broke out in the barn. While the father ran to the barn to try to get the horses out, his wife, who was carrying their infant child in her arms, went to the tracks to wave down one of the many trains that would use that right of way. They slipped too close to the tracks however, and both were struck by the train as it went past. The father was killed by the fire in the barn.

To this day it is said that you are able to go to the trestle and be able to hear the women and child screaming late at night. People have also reported communicating with the father, and have experienced a phantom locomotive rolling through.
