Geocache Description:

The Tennant Lake Wildlife Area is a spectacular wetland in the heart of Whatcom County.

An elevated boardwalk leads through swamp and marsh habitats where visitors may see more than 150 species of songbirds, raptors and waterfowl as well as the occasional muskrat, deer, beaver and other wetland creatures.

The cache is available from mid-January to mid-October and disabled at other times due to hunting season. During spring and summer months water resistant shoes are recommended as the trail can be a little wet.

Pause on the way out to enjoy the visitor center. A 50-ft. tower near the fragrance garden at the parking area gives visitors an unobstructed view of Tennant Lake and the surrounding wetlands. A magnificent view of Mt. Baker to the east creates a backdrop for nature observation and bird watching. A video monitor at the base of the tower allows wheelchair users to experience the sights from up top. Pan, tilt, and zoom functions on the camera provide a range of viewing possibilities.

Please obey all park rules and be sure to re-seal the cache container securely. It is *NOT* necessary to leave the boardwalk to retrieve this cache!

This cache is in the same area as NTC3: Lather, Rinse, Repeat - might as well pick up the deuce!
