Geocache Description:

Please read the safety notice at the start of the main section. An easy drive followed by a walk, though not an amble. It is not for families with young children. Expect to be away from your vehicle for about an hour and a half.

Camel Trail 3 is a fun walk though segments of the trail have fallen into the valley below. Therefore, do not follow the route of the trail but hug the cliff face to your left as you descend. It is a safe route though regrettably not the most attractive down the trail. Initially the decent looks intimidating and the views spectacular. It is not nearly as difficult as it looks though a little bit of scrambling is required. Take plenty to drink with you particularly if it is warm as there is quite a descent… followed by the walk back. The exclusion to small children is that straying from the path can lead to danger.

This is an offset cache guiding seekers to the start of the trail before following it down to the cache. You will know you are at the top when you find the remnants of the old tollhouse. The co-ordinates listed above direct you to the top of the trail; they are not for the cache itself.

The following extract is taken from the log of Scarinian: I crept past the old tollhouse, where the toll keeper slept soundly, and descended down the trail. About half way down I made camp boiling a pot of coffee when I heard fognoughts climbing up the trail from below. I quickly doused the fire and then recalled the words of the Old Widow Hag from Kingdom “When surprised, hide the treasures quickly you must not be caught with them as you flee”. I did as she prophesised and hid the treasures in the coffee pot and hid that amongst the rocks, perhaps four feet above the ground, and then concealed the hiding place with stones. I took the coordinates for those that might follow and was disappointed to note the accuracy was only 5.1m. Quickly I fled up the trail drawing the Enchanted Sword of Scalim as I did so and as I came to the tollhouse, I hid the coordinates to the coffee pot in a small chest and hid that under a rock ledge close-by concealing it from view with stones.
