Geocache Description:

A not-too-difficult, traditional ammo-can geocache, located in a relatively small trail system, on the edge of a small city.

There are a bit more than 2 miles of main trails in this area. There are also some 'primitive' trails. You must use both, and then some, to get to this cache. It is not terribly difficult tho. They are in the midst of renovating this area, so I will do my best to make updates here when they are due.

A good place to start is at N40 40.832 W95 53.036 Here you will find "The Apple House", which has parking, a souvenir shop, rest rooms, and trail maps, although not updated, so if you use them for the cache, you'll have a harder time finding it.

The container is the traditional ammo-can. There is a sticker on the side proclaiming itself. (I forgot to remove the old cache name from when it was in PA, so please disregard the "Bear Swamp" writing. I will tend to that).

The bridges (below) are very neat, and if you have time, there worth checking out.

The area is a bit thorny at the end, and you might get your feet wet, so be prepared.

Points of interest:

A long wooden bridge, that was airlifted in: N40° 40.667' W95° 52.918'

and

Bridge #2... A neat, wooden, multi-level bridge: N40° 40.520' W95° 53.347'

UPDATE: Some trails are now altered due to the renovations. the cache IS accessable, just don't expect to get to go the way you want. There is more than one way to get to it, without interfering with the nearby construction, so don't let that stop you.

UPDATE: Construction is going on, but you can go the other trail, and still get to the cache. Despite what logs may say, it is still attainable, until i say otherwise here.

UPDATE (July 6, 03): They built a new trail system, and observation “Tree House” tower. The cache is still there, full, and in good shape, but I added magnetic key holder, glow sticks for fishing pole, and a laser pointer. The trails website is here: (visit link) That page has a map of the trail/tree house also.
The cache and the new tree house tower are about 270 feet, on opposite sides of South Table Creek. You cannot see one location from the other…at least not now, with leaves on the trees.
Don’t expect to find an easy trail, right up to the cache. The ‘best’ route would be to take the trail from Apple House, to past the Arbor Day Farm, and across the wood bridge, and take the woodchip trail to within 2-300 feet of the cache, then go off trail. (I suggest going off trail at: N40° 40.662' W95° 53.161') Expect a small amount of light bushwhacking. There’s a small stream to cross, but it‘s not too hard to do and not get wet.
The time to complete this cache, depends on how many trail you visit while you’re here, but if all you do is the cache, you could figure on about 45 min-1.5 hours (depending on starting point), with the majority of that being easy going.
There’s lots of animal tracks throughout the area, and I saw a Heron close up while checking on the cache.
I posted the pics below with this update.
