A tiny walk from the subject of the legend. Dirt road, well traveled. May be a challenge in the snow but is hard packed and easily traveled in rain.
A smallish container that hides itself among the landscape, won't hold a pencil (BYOP) ... Log book is within a 'scuba tank' within the outside container. Excited to place this cache on 12/12/12! Legend has it that around 1850, while mapping out the counties in Iowa, two surveyors ran out of survey stakes at this particular four-corner spot, looked around and grabbed a branch from a cottonwood tree and stuck it in the ground to mark the spot that the counties come together. They failed to return and the make-shift stake is still there ... albeit a tad bit larger. A twist to the story goes: In 1850 a surveyor cut a cottonwood sprout to use as a walking stick, later planting it in the ground to mark a section corner. There are many fun stories around Cass County, this is but one.
BYOP, the FTF will find a Pathtag from Alaska and a Golden dollar for their reward.
