Geocache Description:

New to Geocaching?  Need some help or pointers?  Like to go hiking and hunting for hidden treasures?  How about hiding some yourself?
Tulsa Area Geocachers and Sequoyah State Park are offering a “Geocaching 101” class.

When: July 20th  - 10 AM until Noon
Where: Sequoyah State Park Nature Center

This event is designed to introduce people to the exciting outdoor activity called geocaching. Geocaching (Jee-oh-Cash-ing) is part of a worldwide outdoor game for GPS users. Learn how to use a hand-held GPS receiver, then go on an adventure to find hidden treasure, called “geocaches”. If you own a GPS receiver, bring it along with some fresh batteries. But you don’t even need a GPS receiver to attend.  Many people start geocaching with just their Smart Phone. All ages welcome, as long as you can at least “hike” across a parking lot and walk in grass. You can come alone or you can come with a friend.
Some seasoned veterans from the local geocaching community will be on hand to lead the discussion and share their tips, tricks and adventures.
After about an hour of classroom talk we will head out into the park for some “hands on” learning, finding some of the geocaches hidden here.

This will be the regular Third-Saturday-of-the-month meeting for the Tulsa Area Geocachers (TAG).  We hope some of our regular attendees will come out and help walk through the basics with any newbies.  This will also be a great opportunity to explore this great park and check it out before our big Fall Fest Event on October 12th & 13th

Sequoyah State Park is Located on Hwy 51, 8 miles east of Wagoner. Follow the main park road about 2.75 miles and the Nature Center will be on the left, with Parking just to the north.
