What is my ID? Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

tinksdad01: With only one find in over two years, it's obvious anybody who has all ready found the cache knows the people in the pictures to solve the puzzle. New cachers won't know them. The cache had a good run; but now it's time to free up the territory for something new.

Geocache Description:

*** THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES ***

BACKGROUND

I was honored to be elected to serve on the Executive Committee for the Geocachers Of West Tennessee in January of 2007. I wanted to commemorate that special, non-numbers related milestone by putting out a new cache dedicated to the 2007 GOWT Executive Committee. Many of you have met these newly elected officers but some of you may have not. You may recognize their names but not be able to match the name with the face. This puzzle cache requires a few things from you.

  • Identify the officers as shown in the pictures below.
  • Using their caching names, find a unique six digit number associated with each of them.
  • Substitute the numbers for their caching names in equations shown below the pictures and do the math.
  • Evince your answer to determine if it is correct.
  • Go find the ammo can in the woods (posted coordinates give you a place to park)

THE EQUATIONS - Now that you know the names of the cachers above, you must determine a unique number (6 digits) that is associated with each of them. I will tell you that it helps to know that each one of these people is the owner of a hidden cache. The difficulty rating of 5 for this cache is mainly because a piece of special technological equipment is required to be able to discover this number associated with each of these cachers. If you have problems determining how to find that number, use the encrypted hints provided. There may be other ways to determine that 6 digit number but the hint I give is one I know for certain will work.

Here are the equations to solve:

Latitude:

[(A + B) - C] / 2 = ________ + 14561 = ________ (a six digit number) but you are not done yet! Tack a 5 onto the end of that six digit number to get a seven digit number. That seven digit number is your latitude coordinates.

Longitude:

(A - C) = ________ times 2 = _________ + 32768 = _________ (a six digit number) but you are not done yet! Tack an 8 onto the front end of that five digit number to get a seven digit number. That seven digit number is your longitude coordinates.

THE CACHE

The cache is an ammo can hidden in a wooded area. It is not a long hike - only a little over 500 feet from the suggested parking spot (posted coordinates) to the cache (last 75 feet is off trail). Please recover the cache well. FYI - There are a couple of other caches nearby you can grab if you haven't gotten them yet.
