Eine lange Geschichte...
Vor etwa 210 Millionen Jahren begann die Geschichte dieser
Felsen. Damals war diese Gegend vom Muschelkalk-Meer überschwemmt.
Beim Rückgang des Meeres bildeten sich die verschiedenen Schichten
des Muschelkalks. Bis 1959 wurde hier aus dem Steinbruch abgebaut.
Die Steine wurden aus dem Felsen herausgesprengt und größtenteils
als Schotter beim Anlegen von Feldwegen benutzt. Mit ihrer
imposanten Höhe beeinflussen die Felsen, mehr noch als die
Trockenmauern, das Mikroklima in den angrenzenden Weinbergen.
Am Parkplatz gibt es eine Infotafel zu dem Wein- und
Naturlehrpfad Palmberg-Ahn. Diesem Weg solltet ihr folgen, um zu
dem Earthcache zu kommen. Bitte seid vorsichtig auf den Wegen, die
manchmal schmal, steil und/oder matschig sein können. Die Wege sind
für kleinere Kinder, Kinderwagen und Fahrräder ungeeignet.
Um die Logfreigabe zu erhalten, sendet bitte eine email mit den
Antworten auf folgende Fragen:
1 Aus welchen harten Gestein bestehen die Felsen?
2 Welche Besonderheit haben die Felsen im Sommer?
3 Wie ist die Nummer der Station des Wein- und Naturlehrpfades, die
die Felsen erklärt?
4 Welche Farben findet ihr am linken Rand der Infotafel, die sich
am Felsen befindet?
Optional: Fügt Eurem Log noch ein Foto von Euch vor den Felsen
hinzu.
Logs ohne vorherige Freigabe werden kommentarlos gelöscht. Jedes
Team, welches loggen möchte, muss eine eigene e-mail schreiben.
Den Earthcache könnt Ihr übrigens gut mit dem Multi "Palmberg"
GC1MNJ7 verbinden.

The small village Ahn in Luxembourg has to offer this impressive
rock face.
A long history...
About 210 million years ago the history of these rocks started. At
that time the area was afloated with theshell lime sea. During
decrease of the sea different layers of limestone were built up.
Until 1959 stones were mined from this quarry. The stones have been
blasted out of the rocks and mostly used as crushed rock to built
cart trecks. Due to the impressive heightof the rocks, their
influence on the microclimate of the nearby vineyards is even
higher than that of the dry masonry walls.
At the parking place you find an information board for the
"Wein- und Natrurlehrpfad Palmberg - Ahn". You should follow these
paths in order to get to the earthcache. Please be careful, because
the paths sometimes could be narrow, steep and/or muddy. They are
not suitable for small children, buggy or bicycle.
To get the permission to log, please send an email answering the
following questions:
1 Which hard stone do the rocks consist of?
2 What special feature do the rocks have in summer?
3 Which number does the station of the "Wein- und Naturlehrpfad"
explaining the rocks have?
4 Which colours do you find at the left side of the information
panel in front of the rocks?
Optional: Add a fotograph of yourself in front of the rocks to
your log.
Logs without earlier permission will be deleted without comment.
Each team needs a separate email to get log-permission.
