Geocache Description:

This cache is located along the Butler-Freeport Trail which is a Rails to Trails project. The cache is a large ammo box containing several items from other caches that we have found as well as some keychains from a collection that I am attempting to whittle down to nothing. This is not a park and grab cache. The hike or bicycle ride into the cache is in the neighborhood of three miles round trip. The distance is the reason for the higher terrain rating. The trail consists of crushed limestone and is essentially level. Please hide the cache exactly as you found it since the hiding spot does not allow a lot of room for error without exposing it.

While on the trail look for an old brickyard 3/4 of a mile or so in from the parking lot. it will be just at the bottom of the hill 100 feet or so from the trail. There are also several cut stone culverts that the railroad built to channel several small streams under the roadbed.

You can park in Laneville at N41 40.868, W79 41.395. Be advised that the bridge between Laneville and Freeport is one way out of Freeport.

Since the trail is for the most part along the north side of a steep hillside satellite reception is not the best. If your coordinates vary significantly from those listed please post your coordinates with your log.
