Deceangi: Rather than keep this cache temporarily disabled (which should only be used for shortish periods) I'm archiving it. If/when the cache is ever replaced I'll gladly unarchive it assuming it still meets the guidelines.

Please avoid geolitter by removing any remaining traces of your cache or contact a local cacher to do so for you. If you are having difficulty doing so then please contact me via my profile and I will try to get someone to assist. This is particularly important if your cache appears to contain Travelbugs or Geocoins.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located on a packhorse trail between Ffrith and Bwlchgwyn, not far from Wrexham. Best access is by parking in Ffrith, walking under the viaduct by the Blue bell Inn, turning over the stream and then right onto the trail. This a fairly steep continuous upward slope which can be very wet.

To celebrate their milestone, the 100th cache placed by Team Marzipan was called The Mother Cache (GC15RYZ). The object of The Mother Cache is for finders to take one of the ready-prepared caches, BUT ONLY if they are going to hide it as a Daughter Cache. This cache is one such daughter that has travelled close to Wrexham.

It is thought that the Romans used this route to transport lead from Minera to Ffrith, which appears to have been quite an important Roman settlement to judge by the number of artifacts and foundations that have been found in the village.
Packhorse trails had their heyday during the early 1700s. Traders took Welsh goods to sell in English markets and returned with products from the towns. Horses carried 2 paniers and also wore bells to warn others of their approach, as the packhorse trains were given right of way.

The cache is a small screw-topped tube containing a log book. Please take your own pen or pencil.
