Ghost Bridge Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Murex: The Ghost won, but it was fun while it lasted. The best part was how I first discover the old bridge. Also, it was nice to see the redevelopment of the bridge and the extention of the bike trail. Cheers.

Geocache Description:

The cache located off the Loveland Bike Tail and is reachable on foot or on bike. If you going on foot, you can park at the Peter Cartridge Company N39 21.088 and W84 14.471 or off Columbia Road.

What a change over the years. When I first found the bridge, I followed a little used path with a honeysuckle canopy. Just as I came out of the canopy, there was this old rusty, abandoned bridge. It was ghostly looking, therefore, a perfect spot for a cache.

Over the years, the cache was muggled many times, I think by the ghosts. In the fall of 2004, reconstruction of the bridge began and the cache was lost once more. I moved the cache to its current location with the thought of moving it once the bridge was complete. But the ghosts have allowed this location to remain, so who am I to argue.

Now that the bridge construction is complete, it is not as ghostly. But being able to ride across the river is a treat. Getting to the bridge is easier, but getting to the cache is a little harder than before. The cache is located down the embankment inside a sycamore tree (called ghost trees by the Indians because of the white bark). Once off the embankment, the GPS unit may lose its signal, therefore, I suggest getting a bearing while on the paved path, finding a target, and then begin your search.

This cache was never intended to be difficult. It was simply meant to share a nice part of the river and the old bridge with others.
