Situated near to an imposing crag in North Yorkshire, but no climbing or scrambling is required.
Great Almscliff Crag is one of the best examples of a Gritstone Tor in the Pennines. As well as being an interesting geological feature, at around 200m high, it also provides a stunning 360 degree viewpoint across to the Pennines and the Vale of York, when the weather permits. Car parking is alongside the road under the Crag, near the right angled bend in the road. The footpath leads from the parking spot towards the Crag. It can be a bit muddy at the bottom of the hill. There can sometimes be cows in the fields. The cache is 1L tupperware container.
When this historic cache was placed in 2003, the cache was hidden near a lone gorse bush. My, how this gorse bush grew over 20 years and is now much bigger, bushier and pricklier. Given the difficulty in retrieving this cache from its original location, it has now been relocated to another less prickly location nearby. Please replace the cache exactly how you found it to ensure it stays hidden.
