2nd Annual Southern Indiana Scavenger Hunt Event Cache

Last year Mama Jane and I hosted a Scavenger Hunt event we copied from friends in South Carolina. By the end of the event last year, we were promising attendees we would do it again next year.  We enjoyed it so much we had to do it again this year.  This year, when we go over the score sheets, we are planning to project pictures and videos for all to see.

This is how it works:

The event begins Saturday, April 9th at 9:00 am in the parking lot of SWIRCA & More at 16 W. Virginia in Evansville.  **We've had to change location of where we will get together after the hunt to hand in score sheets and have lunch. We will meet at Red Bank Library at 120 S. Red Bank Rd at 12:15. I've added waypoints for the library.  

*We will hunt in teams.  Teams will have no more than 4 geocachers.  Children under 13 are not counted in the numbers.

*Come up with a team name.  There will be a prize for best team name.

*Teams will travel in 1 single vehicle.  There is plenty of room to leave excess vehicles in the SWIRCA parking lot.

*At least one member of the team must have a phone or digital camera capable of taking pictures and videos.  It is suggested you have more than one in case of malfunction.

*All members of the team must stay together.  You cannot split up to complete any of the items on the list.

******When logging your "Will Attend" please include if you are part of a team so we will know how many teams we will have.  If you are solo and want to join a team, please say so in your "Will Attend" log.  Don't worry if you don't have a team of 4 - we will pair you up with other cachers. 

Here's the schedule: 

9:00 - 9:30 - Arrive and sign in.  Give your team name and members' names.  Designate a team leader who will be responsible for receiving and turning in score sheets.  All team members must be present at the registration!  Any teams not signed in by 9:30 will NOT have their scores counted towards prizes.

9:30 - Go over rules and regulations of scavenger hunt (there are more)

9:45 - Distribute sealed scavenger hunt score sheets (no peeking)

9:50 - Open scavenger hunt score sheets - On your marks, set.....

9:55 - Begin Hunt

9:55 - 12:00 - Scavenger Hunt

12:00 - 12:15 - Turn in score sheets for scoring at Red Bank Library.  ALL team members must be present at the turn-in.

1:00 - 3:00  Lunch and award winners - We will have pizza for lunch (contributions to the cause will be appreciated but not necessary).  Bring your own drinks.

We will go through pictures and videos and show as many as possible to the group.  Prizes will be awarded to the top scorers.

Bring with you:

- An open mind

- A sense of adventure (you are geocachers after all)

- Pen

- GPS

- Charger for phone or extra batteries for camera.

****My plan is to publish a few new caches during the event.

Lastly, event is RAIN or SHINE!  Last year we had beautiful weather and we're hopeful that will happen this year as well.
