This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no response to the previous note, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. Geocache Description:

Cache Type: 50cal. Ammunition box and VERY KID FRIENDLY, we've loaded it up good! -- Enjoy!!!

Nearby on Rt 614 Mr. Holjes -- known by his friends as Bill -- constructed on the grand old Pattenburg House; a classic three-story hotel, established in post civil war Pattenburg, New Jersey (1873).

In its earliest days, the Pattenburg House sheltered and fed the men building the Pattenburg Tunnel (which is the location of this 50cal ammunition cache) -- a mile-long tube running through nearby Muscenetcong Mountain.

Between the years 1903 to 1916, the Pattenburg House had become a destination. A resort for visitors to Bellewood Park -- Hunterdon County's first amusement park.

The Pattenburg House flourished during this time. It is said, President Teddy Roosevelt slept here in 1907 during a visit to Bellewood Park.

In the eighties of the twentieth century, the restaurant won a prestigious 3 star rating from the New York Times, establishing The Pattenburg House as a restaurant for the ages.

If you climb the small hill next to the cache you will have a perfect view of the train tunnel into the mountain.

Location: The trail is a nice walk and is wide enough for large quads to pass through. It has alot of loose rocks; I would recommend good shoes with ankle support, but if you do not have them don't worry we didn't when we hide the cache. The trails are used by quads and dirt bikers. NOTE: During hunting season please wear some orange as there are deer stands in the area.

Parking: Take Tunnel Road from either end and turn onto Bellwood Park Road and park at this stone area N 40 38.394 W 075 01.856 the trail starts here. DO NOT ATTEMPT to follow the train tracks from the Pattenburg Inn as these are live tracks used frequently by very long freight trains and is private property!

Picture Clue: Look for the trees in this picture behind my son. NOTE: The cache is not in those trees but this indicates you are in the correct area, use the coordinates to find the cache.

FTF Prize: There is a small frog FTF prize. Please note we have hidden two in the area today with pretty much the same FTF frog prize, if you are the first to find both, if you do not mind we'd appreciate it if you would please leave the second frog for the next to find geocachers. Thank you!

Congratulations to *** keithj999 *** on the FTF!
Happy GeoCaching!
