Geocache Description:

Belle Isle has had geocaches on the island for year, lets give back to the island the way cachers can, a good clean up!

A new beginning for Belle Isle and our CITO event here. The news here is that the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority is no longer on the island as of December 31, 2009, we as geocachers send them off with a big thank you for all the work they have done with us over the years. Now we welcome our on going relationship with The Detroit Zoo, as they too have been a part of our CITO events over the past few years. The Detroit Zoo and Nature Center has open arms to geocaches on the island and will continue to support us geocachers and the work and play we do here!

This clean up will be open to all geocachers and the public that may join in to help, please make them feel a part of our community. This years event will be starting a bit earlier as the nature center has all day programs for Detroit teachers, I will be teaching a geocaching/GPS course to the teachers in the afternoon and is the reason for our start time change.

Meet us at the nature center at 9:15.
Clean up begins at 9:30 and we will work until 11:30.
After 11:30 we will be meeting for the pot luck lunch.

Like all Cito events you should be sure to bring old clothes for the clean up and a change of clothes for afterwards. We hope that some of our Canadian friends can come across as well, all are welcome.

Be sure to bring those things that can make the job easier for you. Some of the things you may want to bring with you is; sturdy gloves (surgical and canvas gloves are provided), mechanical trash picker (some available from the park) and most important is 5 gallon buckets as they work very well for sharp or glass items.
