Geocache Description:

On June 25, 1781, a detachment of soldiers led by Armand de Gontaut-Biron , duc de lauzun, camped in this area during the Revolutionary War. These French and Hungarian soldiers later joined up with Gen. George Washington’s army for the battle of Yorktown VA. in battle against the British.
This area is now the McKenzie reservoir, one of the sources of Wallingford’s drinking water. Many ducks, geese, and swans make this their home. Deer are often seen along the shores also. Fishing is allowed with a town permit and state license.
The cache is located at an information kiosk put together as an Eagle Scout project by Matthew Bonini.
