Ont. Amateur Radio Repeater Series #15: Midland Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

JDandDD: Well the replacement didn't last for even one find so it would appear that this spot has been compromised. Have to say goodbye to this one and thanks to everyone who found it!

Geocache Description:

This cache was placed as part of a series developed by Northernpenguin. The series of geocaches will introduce you to some of the Amateur Radio Repeaters around Ontario.

The active caches in this series (more to follow)

If you are an amateur radio operator, each cache contains the call sign and frequency of a repeater that can be heard from the cache area, so you can chat with some of the local hams on your way back to the car, or on your way to the next cache.

There is a code word and repeater call sign on the first page of the log book. Save this information if you want to go for the final later.

This cache, #15 Midland, is located in Little Lake Park in Midland, Ontario. This is a large, busy park in the summer. Great for picnics, a place for the kids to play, and a swimming spot with shallow water so its quite safe. There is also an arboretum. It is very large.

The town also uses this park for baseball, fireworks, and a large beach volleyball area. There is a snack shop open during the summer that serves terrific Belgian style fries. The entrance off King St. is open year round while the Yonge St. entrance is not available in winter. The cache is in a public area and in the summer you will have to use a litle stealth to not be observed.

The repeater itself is located on the Midland Dominion St. water tower (N44 44.474 W79 53.779) if you want to look at it.
