Geocache Description:

One of 2 cache events linking UK and Irish geocachers together for what is hoped will be an annual cache event series.

At 08.55 a group of UK Geocachers will depart Holleyhead for DunLaoghaire for the Fast Pub But No Wet Feet! event. At 3pm both Irish and UK geocachers will meet at Doyle's pub on 9 College St, where lots of drink will be available for anyone that wants it. Before meeting up at the venue there are various caches that can be done around Dublin. Here is a bookmark list of the various caches around Dublin. As well as the caches, there's a few other activities that can be done.

For the kids (or the big kids!) there's the Viking Splash tour, that takes place on a War II vintage amphibious "Duck". "Viking Tour Captains will tell you all about the most exciting sights in Dublin: how the Vikings first settled the City over 1000 years ago and how Dublin has become a thriving, cosmopolitan European city. Finally, you’ll experience a real thrill as our Tour Captain drives the Duck into the waters of the historic Grand Canal Basin for the water portion of the tour." The tour duration is around 1hr 20m.

The "Book Of Kells" is located close by in Trinity College. The Book of Kells is one of the most famous books in the history of the world and was completed in about 800 AD.

Visit the home of Guinness at the Guinness Storehouse, and have a pint in the Guinness Gravity Bar.

For whiskey lovers there is the old Jameson Distillery. The centre introduces visitors to the taste and history of John Jameson's Irish Whiskey.

Dublin Castle and Christ Church Cathedral  are also close by, and are worth a visit.

For those who would like a bus tour of Dublin, there is a Dublin City Sightseeing bus tour. This is a hop on hop off service and will bring you to the locations above.

Update: There will be no Train from DunLaoghaire to Dublin on the day due to upgrade works. The upgrades were supposed to be finished, but are way behind as usual. That means anyone arriving with the boat group will have to get a bus into Dublin. If you head to the train station, there are bus stops right outside. The 7, 46a, 746 go to the city centre. The timetable can be found on the Dublin Bus website.
