A cache near the biggest Baobab in the world.
The Big Tree is claimed to be the biggest Baobab in the world (although many baobabs vie for this title! Or rather, many people claim various trees are The Biggest...). It's located near the Sagole village in the Limpopo province, and is easily accessible via Toyandou. The tree's estimated to be 3 500 years old, and has a stem circumference of about 43m...The most spectacular time to see it is in winter, where the reason for the baobab's nickname, the upside down tree, becomes evident.
Another reason to visit is the nesting site of the spinetailed swallows, who've made the baobab their roosting spot - the only one in South Africa.
The cache is in a different baobab - NOT the big one - about 200m from the Big Tree.
Entrance fee in 2016 is R30 per person.
FTF congratulations go to iNokia!
A special thank you to Voëlhond for replacing the container. The original lasted about 8 years!
