[FIN] Kätkö sijaitsee Alkulan tilan lähimaastossa.
[ENG] The cache is located near the Alkula farm.

[FIN] Tutustu 1700-luvulla rakennettuun puutaloon ja sen pihapiiriin sekä kätkön lähistöltä löytyvään historia polkuun.

Pihassa kesäisin mm. kasvimaa, pupuja ja lampaita.

Alkulan kartano toimi vuodesta 1773 1800-luvun alkuun Abraham Falanderin tupakkaviljelmänä. August Alexander Levon osti kartanon vuonna 1847 ja nimesi tilan Alkulaksi. Levon perusti väri- ja kemiantehtaan ja niiden yhteyteen myöhemmin myös höyrymyllyn. Levon oli hyvin kiinnostunut puutarhanhoidosta ja hänen ajaltaan on Alkulassa vielä jäljellä mm. metsäruusuja, syreenejä ja siperianhernepensaita. Alkulan tila sijaitsi varsinaisen kaupungin muurien ulkopuolella, jonne Vaasan palaessa 1852 tuli ei ulottunut ja tila säästyi. Levon siirsi tehdastoimintansa palon jälkeen uuteen Vaasaan. 1700- luvulta olevaa päärakennusta ympäristöineen isännöi nykyään Vaasan 4H-yhdistys.

[ENG] Get acquainted with the wooden manor built in the 18th century, along with the farmyard and the history trail nearby.

In the summers the farmyard houses e.g. a vegetable garden, rabbits and sheep.

From 1773 until the early 1900s Alkula functioned as a tobacco farm owned by Abraham Falander. August Alexander Levon bought the farm in 1847 and gave it the name Alkula. Levon founded a dye and chemical factory, and later on a steam mill. Levon was very interested in gardening, and Alkula still has plants like cinnamon roses, lilacs and Siberian pea shrubs dating back to his time. Alkula farm was located outside the walls of the actual town of Vaasa, and so was spared during the town fire in 1852. After the fire, Levon moved his manufacturing facility to the new town, built about seven kilometres from the old town which was destroyed. The manor, dating from the 1800th century, and its surroundings are currently run by the 4H association of Vaasa.
