Geocache Description:

You will need a 4WD to go on this great track!

This cache is on the Echo Camp backtrack at Arkaroola. The infosheet says High Clearance 4WD only, but the Grand Vitara had no problems. In the dry most of the lighter 4WDs should find it easy. Awesome scenery, if you are there this is definitely a track worth doing. And great 4WDing territory too with (dry) creek crossings and some nice climbs & descents.

Unluckily nearest 2WD access is several km away, and since Liz & Bruce found it in Oct 2004 the owners have put a $40 charge on to drive the track. Thanks Team Jeckyl for the update, had the cost been there when I placed it I would not have put the cache down.

Info on the track is at (visit link)

A 1.5l camo lunchbox under rocks.

EDIT October 2009 - it has been reported the cache container is getting fairly brittle so if someone would like to take a replacement along next visit it would be much appreciated. Now I live in Sydney don't know when I will be able to get back to it :-)

I haven't managed to get back there to pull it out, but now it is on a paid track I would prefer it not to be there. I'm happy if the next finder who finds it damaged removes the geotrash and lets me know, and I will archive. Or if they feel like replacing it then they can do that as well. A shame as it has been there a while, but really I don't want people to have to pay $40 to find it (or whatever the charge is nowadays). That said I still think the track is worth driving.
