The BridgeMan Cache Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

TMAACA: We stopped by this one this afternoon to check on it and unfortunately the cache is gone. Because of how complicated the container is to make and the limited time I have right now, I am going to reluctantly archive this one - it was one of our favorites. Thanks for all those who went out to look for it.

Geocache Description:

For eighty-seven years, this was the site of the Stutson Street Lift Bridge. Built in 1917, the original bridge was expected to last only 50 years!

All that is left of that bridge now are memories and this scenic overlook dedicated to local resident and Genesee river advocate Bill Davis...

Keeping those memories alive at the cache site are plaques telling the history of the bridges, the Charlotte area, and those that have worked hard to make this such a great area to live in and visit.

Even those who have lived here for many years will probably learn something new!

Nearby, you will see the recently completed O'Rorke Lift Bridge. The bridge is a double leaf bascule rolling lift bridge designed to carry four lanes of traffic and accomodate shipping through the Genesee River.

Under construction for nearly five years and officially opened in 2005; this bridge serves both as a beautiful replacement for the Stutson Street Bridge and as a memorial to local war hero Patrick Henry O'Rorke

Take your time looking for the cache and enjoying the area. Please be sure to bring a pen or pencil because the cache is too small to accomodate one.
