EASchmidtE: Well, they say you can't fight city hall and they must be right. After awhile I finally got ahold of the police officer that asked me to move the cache. Even thought I had city approval prior to cache placement, I still have to move it. I've got a few spots in mind, I'll just use the container for another cache. I'd rather comply with the cops then not be allowed to cache at all. Oh well, such is life.

Geocache Description:

Located not far off the side of a little used public road. This road was built over the end of one of the runways and small tarmac area.

During World War II The landscape was dotted with Navy outlying airfields. Navay Aulillary Air Station Pungo, VA was commissioned in 1943 as a satellite airfield for nearby Norfolk Naval Air Station. The station's intended mission was to support operations & training of aircraft intended to operate from escort carriers. A total of 24 such squadrons passed through Pungo during WW2,most consisting of TBF or TBM Avenger torpedo bombers and F4F or FM Wildcat fighters. Today part of the airfield is used by the US Coast Guard as a communication station, and a small part is privately owned. The local SCCA holds autocross races on the Tarmac in the privately owned area. You are looking for an ammo box. In the spirit of the Naval Aviation theme the log book is one of my spare Navy Surface Air Controller logbooks. Initial items are a WWII era aircraft toy(though it's not a Navy one) and a carabeaner flashlight.
