Island Park was developed from property given to the community, in
1877, by the Northern Pacific Railroad which crossed the river near
here in 1872. The area was prone to flooding, since it was a cut
off river oxbow, and Native Americans were allowed to camp at this
site.
In 1959, to control flooding, a large dike was built which buried
the old midtown dam and water intakes and outlets for the Fargo
Water Department and the NSP generating plant on N.P. Ave, west of
Broadway.
This is a two part cache. Note the date on the object to which the
container at the second location is attached and e-mail it to
SaeSew to validate your find. Do not include the object or date in
your log entry!
