Geocache Description:

This Cache is located at the tip of Long Point in Lake Erie

I have been to this area a few times, and thought that it would be a great place for a cache due to it's remoteness and the challenge of the find. Long Point is a World Biosphere Reserve and plays a very important role in providing critical habitat to many species of plants and animals. Long Point is also an important stop over point for many species of birds passing by on their annual migration. Long Point is a home to many species of Reptiles and Amphibians designated as being "At Risk" under the Canadian Species at Risk Act. These species include the Eastern Spiny Softshell Turtle and the Fowler's Toad. Studies are currently being conducted to help these species re-establish themselves.

A large majority of Long Point is designated as a National Wildlife Area, and access is Prohibited!! Please stay off the National Wildlife Area...not only does it interfere with the local wildlife, IT IS ILLEGAL and a CRIMINAL OFFENCE!!! The Cache is located on Transport Canada property and access for recreational beach use is permitted. The only way to access this cache is by BOAT, and must be suitable for great lakes water as weather conditions often change without notice making, boating conditions unsuitable for smaller vessels. You should not attempt this cache unless you are an experienced boater and are familiar with the area. Good Luck!
