Geocache Description:

Easy cache on Boxborough conservation land.

Original Description by Joel Mozer

This is the Rolling Meadows conservation area. It consists of open areas, wooded areas, and a quiet little brook. There are lots of trails and the cache is not far off of one of them. It is an easy, relatively short walk from the roadside parking. Stay a while and enjoy the solitude.

I love caches that involve meadows and fields boardered by woods. Throw in an old farm and I'm in heaven. If you've been to my other cache in Boxborough called Steele Farm you'll know what I mean. About 2 months ago I found out that this cache was here in Rolling Meadows, a site which I had considered for my own cache. I was allowed to adopt this cache from the previous owner Joel Mozer who has since moved away. Please thank Joel (he still caches in Southern New Mexico) for the original cache. This cache was the 50th cache placed in Massachusetts and is currently about the 35th oldest active cache in the state. As best I could, I've tried to preserve everything about the original cache.

This cache may not be winter accessible if there is a lot of snow or ice.

The Location

The Town of Boxborough purchased this 35-acre plot in 1990. The land was originally part of the Jacob Littlefield farm (c. 1846) which you can see at the northern part of the property -- this is still a private residence so please don't walk through their front yard. A small brook runs along the northwestern property line. The front portion of the parcel is a hay field which extends down into a wet meadow and into forested woodland. If you make a dawn or dusk trip here you'll have a great chance of seeing wildlife in the boundary areas where the fields and woods meet including deer, red fox and coyote. Families with young children will appreciate the short, dry and relatively flat hike. There is parking for one or two cars at N42° 30.029 W071° 29.036
