August 10, 1992: At 8:52 AM, an 8 pound 6 ounces baby boy was born
at The Medical Center in Columbus, Ga. His mother cried during the
entire delivery and recovery, not from pain but from sheer joy that
the moment was finally here and he was healthy. August 10, 2008:
Guess who will be 16 years old today? Avery!! That's right, better
look out 'cause that healthy boy will be driving on a road near you
very soon!
Avery had the choice of birthday dinner with family anywhere he
chooses or a big cookout/pool party and his choice was to have an
event with his geocaching friends. So, please come and help us
celebrate! We'll have a big cake (yummm) with a bunch of candles so
bring your sweet tooth along. Of course, he loves geocoins so if
you have any bring them so that he can discover them and we'll
bring ours for you to discover as well. We also look forward to
swapping stories about interesting caches and the 'challenge'
caches some of us are working on. Help us sing Happy Birthday and
have some cake!
For those who wish to participate we will be playing the white elephant gift exchange. The game is also known as Yankee Swap, Kris Kringle, Dirty Santa, GiftWar, Grinch Exchange, Rob Your Neighbor, Nasty Christmas and Chinese Gift Exchange.
The rules of the game:
1. Each person playing draws a number.
2. On the first turn, the guest with #1 chooses a gift, opens it, and reveals it to all the other players.
3. On the second turn, the guest with #2 gets the choice of "stealing" #1’s opened gift or choosing a new unopened gift. If #2 steals #1's gift, then #1 must choose and open a new unopened gift.
4. On the third turn, the guest with #3 gets the choice of "stealing" either #1’s or #2’s opened gift, or choosing a unopened gift.
5. This continues until all gifts are opened.
6. You cannot steal from the person who just stole from you.
7. A gift is out of play once it has been stolen 3 times.
It’s a lot fun!!! Please keep the gifts under $20. Try to select something geocaching or hiking related.
And there is a good chance we will have a 50/50 raffle with proceeds donated to the Chattahoochee Valley Cachers
This event will be held at 4:00 PM at
the Karl F. Eidam Lodge #9 of the Fraternal Order of Police in the
annex. The posted coordinates will get you to the parking lot. The
annex is the small building to the left of the main
building.
