BROWN CEMETERY
A Marshall County Pioneer Burying Ground
Located in the SW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 13, Taylor Township, Marshall County, Iowa

If you are standing at the cache site and look at 250 degrees and 0.25 miles behind you, you'll see Brown Pioneer Cemetery sitting isolated out in the middle of a field. This is a relatively unknown burying ground since even the county geneology website was unaware of it's actual location. There were 19 known burials at Brown Cemetery. The first known burial was Mary Orr Allman on December 10, 1851. The last burial was Mary Moon on August 23, 1884. It has remained pretty much the same since that time. Fortunately, this burial ground didn't suffer the same fate as nearby cemeteries that were plowed under.
