Geocache Description:

Tung Chung Fort was completed in the twelfth year of the Daoguang reign(1832) and was gazetted as declared monuments in August 1979. During the Japanese Occupation (1941 - 1945), it had once been occupied by soldiers of the invasion force.

In the past, the fort had also been the Police Station of the Hong Kong Government, Wah Ying College and later, Tung Chung Public School.

The fort, measuring 70 metres by 80 metres, is enclosed by walls constructed of large, well-dressed granite blocks with three arched gateways on the east, west and north. There are six old muzzle-loading cannon, each resting on a cemented base.

This fort means a lot to me because this is where my mum and dad met each other:)Please be careful if you take kids up the fort because it's quite high and there's no fence. The ground may be slippery because of the moss, so please tell them not to run. And there's an exhibition centre, the security guard is always looking around:) and as there're some houses nearby, please also check if anyone is looking out of the window, hope you have a good time at the fort.

People can come over from the airport by taxi (which costs around 40 to 50HKD) and it takes around 15 mins, so please come if you think shopping at airport is too boring. You can also take the bus S64 or 38 from Tung Chung MTR Station (and costs less than 20$ for taking blue taxi) , get off at the terminus and walk towards the 24-hour convenience store, well, follow your GPS and cross the bridge, and you will see the sign.
