This cache is located high up in Kananaskis country. The hike in to Three Isle Lake is about 12.2 km one way with an elevation rise of about 2000 ft. Definitely a good days hiking. However the scenery and fishing up there are worth it. The cache is a small peanut butter jar with a few goodies. It is hidden behind a rock near the campsites. No need to make this any harder than necessary as the hike in will be tough enough in itself.
Part of the adventure with this cache is the truely amazing scenery you will enjoy on the trip. The lake is nestled in a valley surrounded by 3 mountains whose slopes are covered with pine forests. For those who feel the urge to backpack in and stay a day or two there is some great fishing for cutthroat trout in the lake. Wildlife is abundant and we actually saw a grizzly down the lake just after we planted the cache.
UPDATE: When I hid this cache the "island" was connected to shore by a large gravel bar. Apparently in the last year or so the water level has risen and it is now an island again. I have taken the cache off the island and relocated it to the shore near the campsites. Easy to find.
