Four-part multi cache exploring the early development of this great
Indiana State Park. This cache is dedicated to "The Boys" that
built Pokagon!
This cache was created by the Pokagon State Park Interpretive
Staff. The mission of the Indiana State Park Interpretive Services
is to provide information and interpretive experiences with
Indiana's natural and cultural resources to visitors, staff, and a
diverse public. As per the IDNR Geocaching Policy, this geocache is
not in an IDNR dedicated Nature Preserve and has been
permitted.
Begin your journey at the above coordinates. The usual State Park
admission is required ($1.00 bicycle, $4.00 in-state weekday, $5.00
weekend, or $7.00 out of state vehicles). Using the first set of
coordinates locate the object and answer this question:
What is the name of the group that helped build Pokagon in the
1930's and early 1940's?
Take your answer to the Pokagon Nature Center during regular
hours, which are 10am-5pm daily in the summer (1pm-5pm weekdays in
spring and fall, 10am-5pm Sat & Sun, except closed Mon-Tues in
the winter). After giving the correct answer to the interpretive
naturalist on duty, you will receive the coordinates for the rest
of the cache.
At the final stage you will find an ammo can. The original
contents being stocked includes numerous items with the Pokagon
logo on it. These items can be found at the Potawatomi Inn gift
shop. They include hiking stick madallions, can coozies, keychains,
pins, and patches.
You shouldn't have to do any bushwacking to enjoy this cache. Have
fun, and be safe!
