Trail head starts across from entrance to Indian Mary Park. Umpqua Joe was the father of Mary, for whom the park is named. This is a great place to spend time with family.
The trail is good but steep with lots of switchbacks - going from elevation of 800' to 2000'. Satellite reception is poor most of the way but you won't need it until you get to the top - just keep going UP! There are some views of the river along the way but the giant, moss covered rocks are beautiful. Most of the trail is lined with ferns and moss and there is a bench part way up to rest your feet!!
The ammo can contains a paperback book, a watch, Christmas ornaments, decorative sponge and pin backs (for crafters). The first finder will receive the coveted First Finder's Certificate and will be treated to a pint of adult beverage at the next Pizza Cache - you will have earned it!!
